At the Vet

The Alaska SPCA Clinic focuses on services that promote good animal health and reduce or eliminate suffering for dogs, cats, and rabbits across the state.  Our primary focus is spay and neuter procedures, with limited availability for pet exams, dentals and other surgical procedures.  Core vaccinations against diseases found in Alaska are also available.  Pets are not kept overnight under any circumstance.

Prescription Refill Requests

Existing patients: please allow at least two business days for a refill request. Many medications require periodic bloodwork before a refill can be provided.

New patients: your pet must be seen by one of our staff veterinarians before any medication--including prescription pet food and allergy shots--can be prescribed. If your pet has not been seen by one of our vets you must request an exam first.

Client Code of Conduct
In order to provide the very best care for your pet, the Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) requires that you and the treating veterinarian agree to several core understandings:
  • The vet has to be able to examine your pet in person.  We do not do telephone diagnosis or provide treatment without an exam.
  • You must be honest with our team about current medications, observations about appetite and voiding (peeing and pooping) behavior, and whether or not you've followed prior vet instructions.
  • Our team wants to help your pet.  Instructions from techs and support staff must be followed.  If you don't understand why, please ask.
  • Physical or verbal abuse of animals, employees, or other clients will not be tolerated.

How to Cancel a Clinic Appointment We know that it's hard to get through on the phone due to our call volume, but you want to avoid a "no show" charge.  The best way to cancel a clinic appointment is by emailing our CSR Team at customerservice@alaskaspca.org at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.  That save you money and gives us a chance to move someone who's been waiting into that slot.
